The Italian Minister for Relations with the Parliament, Luca Ciariani, in an interview with the newspaper La Stampa, stated that the agreement with Albania for immigrants will be approved in February and the first reading of the Prime Minister's Office will be in the spring.

"The ratification of the agreement with Albania will be approved in February and the first reading by the Prime Minister will be in the spring", he stated bluntly.

Regarding the agreement with Albania, the minister explained that "there is no hesitation" and "we are so convinced that we asked for urgency in the approval of the draft law, which we hope will be approved in February".

Meloni's confidante has explained that immigration will be a topic on which the government will focus especially in this new year 2024, because "it is the point where we have suffered the most"

"We had a difficult summer. From the very beginning, it was not easy to make migration a major international issue. We asked the voters for patience, but the results - explained the minister - will come", he said.

The Constitutional Court in Albania has blocked the Italy-Albania pact for immigrants on December 13, 2023.

The constitutionalist has announced that she has considered the lawsuit filed by the opposition MPs against this agreement.

In this way, the court has announced that the ratification procedure in the Assembly of the agreement with Italy, planned to be voted on in the Assembly on December 14, 2023, is automatically suspended.

Meanwhile, the hearing for the decision of the Constitutional Court related to this matter will be held on January 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.

We remind you that on December 6, 30 deputies of the Berisha-Bardhi group submitted to the Constitutional Court the request for declaring the agreement between Albania and Italy on immigrants, signed on November 6 in Rome by Prime Ministers Rama and Meloni, incompatible with the Constitution.

The Berisha-Bardhi grouping simultaneously requested from the court the prohibition, as well as the suspension of the procedures for the ratification of the protocol by the Assembly.

In order to give effect to the agreement signed by Rama and Meloni in Rome for the construction of the immigrant camp in Gjadër with a capacity of 3 thousand people as well as the use of the Shengjin Port as a landing port, it must be ratified in the Parliament with at least 71 votes.

The secret agreement, reached in principle on August 15 when the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni came by ferry from Puglia to rest with the family of her Albanian counterpart Edi Rama in Vlora, was signed on November 6, 2023 between the two leaders at the "Palazzo Chigi" in Rome .

The port of Shengjin will be the gateway for illegal immigrants who try to enter Europe through Italy, according to the protocol for the management of migratory flows./ Pamphlet
