European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen, during her speech at the European Political Community Summit, said that they are ready to bring Russian President Vladimir Putin to the table to end the war in Ukraine.
Von der Leyen stressed that they are preparing the next set of sanctions against Russia.
"What we perceived as world order is turning into world disorder driven by Putin's imperialist goals. Today, Europe is awake, its eyes are open, we must build this resilience of ours. We have all learned that when there are major crises, Europe gives major responses. Europe has become more united at this turning point in history.
We must not forget that this is why the political community was created to support Ukraine. The fact that we are sitting with you, Zelensky, is proof of our steely unity to preserve Ukraine's sovereignty.
Along the way, most members of the political community have supported sanctions against Russia. We are ready to do more to bring Putin to the negotiating table with Ukraine.
To be clear, we want peace. Sanctions on Nord Stream 1 and 2, lowering the oil price ceiling. Why do we want peace?
"We have gathered in Tirana to build our common future in an era of shared prosperity. If we succeed in building this prosperity, this is the catalyst for building peace. Connectivity must be at the top of the agenda. Soon we will set our sights on the Black Sea," said Von der Leyen.
