Prime Minister Edi Rama has appeared determined to remove every director, deputy mayor or administrator in municipalities controlled by the Socialists. Despite the fact that the mayors have obeyed the ultimatum issued by the Prime Minister, there have been sporadic cases where there has been opposition. In some cases, like that of Lezha, Rama has joked about it, but in another case, like the Municipality of Konispol, he has demanded the removal of the Mayor.
The Municipality of Konispol is headed by Ergest Dule, who, according to Report TV, at the meeting that the Prime Minister called in Durrës a few days ago, opposed the removal of the directors with the argument that they are young and capable of the job.
But Rama's reaction was immediate, as he ultimately addressed the Mayor and said, "Either they leave, or you leave."
It is not yet known what choice the Mayor of Konispol will make, but from what we can see, Edi Rama is purging the municipalities controlled by SP elected officials from those he thinks could delay EU integration.
