"Not some superiors and some inferiors"/ Strong debates in the DP

The approval of the formula for holding the primaries process seems to have left a lot of resentment within the DP.

The closed-door meeting of the Democratic Party's National Council has been accompanied by intense debates and opposition over how and when the Primaries will be held.

The approval of the formula for holding the primaries process seems to have left a lot of resentment within the DP. As mentioned, Sali Berisha has excluded from this process the political leaders in the regions, who seem to have a secure place on the lists.

But this decision was opposed by democrat Myslym Murrizi, who did not agree with the exclusion of political leaders in the regions from the primaries.

According to Murrizi, this division creates undemocratic differences within the party, while he emphasized that this formula is murderous. Murrizi also called for transparency and care in choosing allies.

" I agree with the statute for primaries, but they should be open. While branch leaders resign, why should it be any different for political leaders? No one can divide us, into some inferior politicians and some superior ones. Make the primaries national, this formula is murderous. Even more so with one vote. Don't be afraid of internal lobbying."

"I will enter the Tirana primaries and I want to be on open lists. You should also look at the coalitions. Where is Shpëtim Idrizi today? Care must be taken in selecting allies ," he said during the meeting.

There were also objections from Bujar Leskaj, who, among other things, did not agree with the date of the primaries, which was set for March 1. According to him, this date is hasty since they are expected to be engaged with the Diaspora vote by March 4.

" Political leaders should also be voted on. Or they should move to district voting. Branch heads should not resign since they were elected by vote."

"I do not agree with the March 1 date for holding the primaries. This is because between now and March 4 we are engaged with the Diaspora vote ," Leskaj said, among other things, during the meeting.
