The Chairman of the Movement for National Development, Dashamir Shehi, stated that the main goal of the opposition and the party he leads is to remove Edi Rama from power.
In an interview for the show "Off the Record" on "A2CNN", Shehi said that Albania has the most anti-democratic law and according to him, Edi Rama has grabbed all the power.
"I am concerned about the strategic line of the opposition, not the protests. Where should we go? Who is the target? My objective is the removal of Edi Rama. I call the immediate departure of this government. First, he has been governing for 12 years, plus he is producing extreme corruption. It has influenced all the institutions that should guarantee democracy in Albania. Rama has won the elections and should govern, but Edi Rama cannot control the entire space of the state, the state is bigger than the executive. He has not been given a mandate to control the courts, parliament or independent institutions. For the sake of the bad tradition of communism, the party controls everything, unfortunately, even after democracy, the same thing has happened and this has culminated with this government.
We have the most undemocratic and strange law in the world, a law made up on the table just to hinder others. The one who has it in his hand violates not only his rivals, but his own people in the first place, to give the party leader absolute power. Imagine if he becomes prime minister, he becomes more than a king, because the kings today have nothing in their hands. He who is in power today does whatever he wants. Then they say why didn't the young people enter, but how did they enter through the window?" , Shehi said.
