The protest of the civic movement "Albania Becomes" has entered a phase of open confrontation with the government.
From the square in front of the Prime Minister's Office, Adriatik Lapaj has accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of being "the most corrupt man in the world" and describing his regime as "a system that mocks, steals and despises citizens."
"We are here to demand the resignation of Edi Rama! You thief, you thief, you thief!" Lapaj shouted along with hundreds of protesters, while addressing the citizens with a rhetorical question that ignited the square: "Did the people give him 83 mandates to steal from us, rape us, and mock us?"
Lapaj denounced the fact that for 27 nights in a row, protesters have been sleeping in the open, without any medical assistance, without tents, without basic conditions, due to obstacles from the police. "We have been sleeping in this square for 27 days. They have not even allowed us to set up tents, while Edi Rama once covered this boulevard with tents for himself," he declared.
Describing citizens as humiliated by a regime that sees them as "numbers," Lapaj called for social awakening: "We cannot be afraid to live, to stand up for our children, for our parents, to not be treated like garbage. Albanians are not biological beings; they deserve to live with dignity."
Adriatik Lapaj: We are all together, we are here to demand the resignation of the most corrupt man in the world, Edi Rama! Edi Rama, you thief, you thief, you thief! Edi Rama, you thief, you thief, you thief! He said he has 83 mandates. Let's assume that he won six of them with dignity, which is not true. And I have a statement and a question for you. Did the people give him the 83 mandates to steal? To rape him? To mock him? Those mandates today have zero value, because the people know the truth. These are the ones who steal from us! This is a battle against fear. You are free people here, be a public of fear. And I want to tell you what a person lives for. To eat and to move, to do their biological needs?
Albanians are not simply biological beings, they are people who deserve to live with dignity. We have been sleeping in this square for 27 days. Edi Rama's regime of thieves, to its shame, has not asked for an hour, an ambulance, even though it is the protocol of any normal country, to check us, measure our blood pressure, measure the other elements in our blood, because for them we are people who should not exist, because they see us simply as numbers! 27 nights in the open sky, in the cold, because they have not allowed us, with the gangs that have been incorporated into the State Police, to set up tents, to live and protest with dignity. And who? Edi Rama, who covered this entire boulevard with tents. Edi Rama! O thief, o thief, o thief! Edi Rama, o thief, o thief, o thief! Edi Rama, o thief! But we are defying fear. We cannot be afraid to live. We cannot be afraid to tell them, you are thieves! We should not and cannot be afraid to stand up for our children, so that they do not run away from this country anymore. We cannot be afraid to stand up and fight for our parents, so that they are not treated like waste, so that they are thrown out of a container with their bonuses. We are here to kill fear, for every young person who must see the future in their home, in our homeland!
