Evi Kokalari, the Albanian-American activist, continues to take to social media to criticize Democratic leader Sali Berisha and the “Great Albania” alliance he created. On the eve of the May 11 elections, where Berisha is seeking a third term in power, Kokalari writes that petty people who are bent on corruption or simply want to escape justice can never make Albania great or noble.
"'Make Albania Great Again' means restoring the dignity and confidence of all Albanians wherever they are, as a single nation, and allowing us to walk with our heads held high and proud again," writes Kokalari.

To be honest, 'Make Albania Great Again' means returning to the last glorious period for the nation, which falls in the 15th century, when we were still a Christian nation with a noble identity, a proud nation that was the cornerstone for two empires, the Roman and the Byzantine, which together with the Catholic church, built what we today refer to as Western civilization.
No other period after 1400-1500 has been 'Great' for us Albanians. Between the oppressive and destructive Ottoman regime, communism, and the super corrupt post-communist regime, this people has suffered and lost its identity.
'Make Albania Great Again' means restoring the dignity and confidence of all Albanians wherever they are, as a single nation, and allowing us to once again walk with our heads held high and with pride.
Small people who have a mind for corruption or simply want to escape justice can never make Albania either great or noble.
They simply prolong the agony and prevent a return to identity.
