He promised revolutions, threatened to sacrifice himself like the former President of Chile, Salvador Allende, or put his chest to the ball like Mic Sokoli. But the former "rebel" president who would free the country from dictatorship has disappeared.
We are talking about Ilir Meta. When he was protected by immunity and guarded by the Guard within the walls of the Presidency, Ilir Meta was on television every day. Even after the famous protest of March 2, he took the sword of freedom in his hand. Upon leaving that office, he created the Freedom Party, which would liberate the country. But where is Ilir Meta today?
The former president hasn't made any public appearance for nearly a month, but even earlier his appearances were rare and spontaneous. Meta's last meeting with journalists was on December 21, and since then he has been out of the picture. Yesterday he posted a video of some ducks swimming, but no word on the political situation.
Today the new parliamentary session starts and Meta did not come alive again. His deputies go to the session as much as possible and get the 3 million at the end of the month. No word about Berisha and they also did not go to the protests that are taking place below his apartment.
As far as Berisha is concerned, Meta has been distancing himself from him completely since the accusation from SPAK was communicated to you. He has also stopped attacks on the government and it is not known why. There are rumors that he has been sick, but the photos and videos he posts show that he continues to be on the move.
Isn't this a reverse strategy of Meta from Berisha, to protect himself from justice?
Berisha openly challenged SPAK with the Americans and we saw where he ended up, on the eighth floor of a building where he plays dominoes with his son-in-law. Meta has been working behind the scenes since the beginning of the time, that is, when it was rumored that the investigations had started on him.
Historically, Meta has been a man of affairs under the rug. This is how he reached the pact with Berisha in 2013, this is how he cooperated with him in 2017, this is how he became president, etc.
Meta sees that Berisha is not succeeding in the fight and seems to be following Ilir Beqaj's strategy, working behind the scenes, through lobbying, money and friendships.
SPAK seized a phone from Kryemadhi and it is said that it also seized Meta's, but the news was kept secret. It came out only after Kryemadhi complained. The prosecution in the case of Meta and Kryemadhi was strictly hermetic, unlike Berisha and others. So it looks like Meta has decided to focus on his plight and work as hard as he can to get out of prison. He has understood that staying by Berisha's side does not solve anything, it even creates work for himself.
But there is another theory. Is it possible that Meta is waiting for the end of Berisha and will take the stage again to take advantage of the chaos of the opposition? DP is divided into 3-4 pieces and in the next elections it is not known how it will end and it is not surprising that Meta will try to take advantage.
