Opponents published nude photos of him on the beach, Rama goes back in time:

Prime Minister Edi Rama and Pandeli Majko were together in Kavaja this Monday in a meeting as part of the campaign for the May 11 elections.

But while they remembered the old days when Majko was prime minister and Rama was mayor, the latter also touched on the story of the photos they published of him sunbathing nude in France.

"I was in France, some friends told me there are some nude beaches where people go and bathe like God made them. And I said let's go and try it, what's up? I was with a friend and some friends, we took pictures, there was nothing there, because when everyone is like that, you don't get impressed."

After a few years I run to become mayor again and these people from the swamp somehow find these photos of me, it's a long story, and they send me anonymous phone calls saying they'll embarrass me, I said what are they going to do to me because I can't believe it.

They told me to back off because you're going to be the talk of the town, when one day before they published them, you can find them on Google if you're curious, how many of you have seen them... and they send them to me in an envelope, I open them and see myself, but it was after many years... the first thing that came to my mind was that I'm not that young anymore, then I felt embarrassed and said what are they going to do. They published this in the newspaper, all this nonsense like my mother had done to me, but of course... 2 meters.

Pandi covered himself with a quilt, didn't leave the house, called and cried about his troubles with my mother.

Then they told me to go out and deny it, it's a montage, how can I deny it? In the afternoon when this came out, I had a meeting with the young people, at Ali Demi's, but the problem was that when I walked down the street, it seemed to me like they were looking at me like that.

I took the microphone there, they looked at me, and they said, "What can I tell you, it's me?" A big cheer erupted? "Oh, I did," Rama said, causing laughter.

"When Majko and I both won, I went to his office because he didn't want me to win, and I told him we were forced to work together... In order to work together, he said you have to fulfill two conditions, stop wearing red socks and get married, I fulfilled both," the prime minister continued.
