Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and NATO Secretary General are four of the international leaders who left Tirana early, where the European Political Community Summit is taking place.
The four important political figures left for Rinas Airport immediately after lunch, which followed the first session of discussions at the so-called “House of Europe.” The reason for their early departure has not been officially announced, but it is worth noting that their presence at the summit lasted only a few hours.
Meanwhile, the rest of Europe’s leaders continued their work in the Albanian capital, sending a clear and strong message to Russia to immediately stop its aggression in Ukraine. Prime Minister Edi Rama, in his speech, called for a broader alliance “beyond armaments,” an idea that found direct support from French President Emmanuel Macron, who stressed that the European Union must act as a united bloc in defense of European values and sovereignty.
Tirana returned to the center of international attention for a day, amid talks about regional stability and global challenges – however, the premature departure of several leaders did not go unnoticed.
