"On May 11th, people will tell Rama to go away", Salianji's

Former MP Ervin Salianji, through another letter from cell number 6 of Fier prison, where he has been serving a sentence for false reporting for four months, states that dissatisfaction with the government in Albania is higher than ever.

"The inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump was well-attended all over the world, and it was the same in Fier prison. In the late afternoon there are usually voices, noise and loud conversations. That day, silence. And the next day in the small garden where meetings are held with family and friends, this topic was being discussed. Although thousands of kilometers away, big events arrive and grip people even in isolated corners.

Let us remember the words of Senator Amy Klobuchar, who addressed the new President and his Vice President with the words: "Never forget that the power you are taking today comes from the people, from the workers, from the teachers, from the police, from the firefighters, from the oil workers, from the Americans."

Even the US Constitution, unlike many others, begins with the words; we the people of the United States...

It would be cynical to make comparisons between the celebration of the most glittering democracy in the world and ours.

It was there, a long, long time ago, that philosophers and thinkers like Tocqueville were captivated.

But you can't help but stop and reflect on these principles mentioned above. Don't forget at any moment that your power comes from the people...", writes Salianji.

In his letter, Salianji draws a comparison with the United States of America, emphasizing that leaders there understand that power comes from the people. He mentions with particular interest the inauguration of President Donald Trump, an event that, according to him, was also closely followed by prisoners in Fier.

"This moment has disappeared in Albania. People have not been in control for 12 years. The power that originated from them has suffered so many fractures and deviations, so many occult centers have been created on it, a tangle of interests and spirals of benefits, that it is no longer possible to understand and distinguish its roots. The autocrat today thinks that the source of power is himself, and he divides and exercises it as he pleases. People are simply spectators.

It is not in vain that he threatens to keep me here until 2030, or beyond. Because he does his calculations with the links of offices and institutions under his control, with money, with the media, with oligarchs, with criminal groups, with the international support he secures by giving away pieces of Albania, from Sazani to Lezha, as if it were his brother in Surrel.

He has this math. And with these segments he has the balance in order. He has received votes and power, he has distributed wealth. This is the reason why he is not accountable to the citizens for the miserable governance of 12 years. They do not exist.

One of the consequences of this great deformation, of the distortion of power, of losing touch with the legitimate source, with the people, is the control over justice. The persecution of the opponent.

"Today marks 4 months since I was in cell number 6 of Fier prison, because I fought for the public interest, denounced crime, misgovernment and fought for the renaissance wherever I was assigned a task, without law but simply because this was the Prime Minister's wish, I am still held hostage ," he said.

The former MP then highlights the injustices that prevail in Albania, citing his personal case. Salianji emphasizes that "no other citizen has been sentenced to 1 year in prison for a denunciation."

The former MP states that his case will follow all legal instances, up to the Strasbourg Court, and promises to fight for his rights until he dies.

" So you find yourself in the Republic where, without law, without precedent, without evidence, without having committed the crime you are accused of, simply for a public denunciation, for a press conference, you end up behind bars. For a statement that was proven true by the denounced person himself, who went within the day to serve prison in Italy, where he was sentenced to 7 years and 4 months, for international drug trafficking. He went to serve that prison, which he had replaced with relaxation and activity in Vlora, thanks to the support he had from his brother, the Minister of the Interior and the Prime Minister.

No citizen has been sentenced to 1 year in prison for a denunciation. Much less a deputy, who on the day the court comes out and announces what the prime minister has warned, still has the mandate of the elected official. We have followed all the instances, and this matter will go to Strasbourg, and I will seek justice until the end of the world, as long as I have breath.

But if this travesty of justice remains in effect, anyone who says something that annoys the Prime Minister, his ministers, his family, or his clan could end up in jail.

Who stops it, who gives guarantees that this will not happen? No one, as long as there is someone in power who thinks that the right to govern and dictate has come from heaven, and not from people!

This time the discontent is at its peak, it is felt everywhere. Citizens are the guarantee to preserve the Republic. But especially, the vote of the diaspora can overthrow the devil's plans!

"The chances are that the people will tell Edi Rama that they exist, that they are here, and that power comes from them. This is May 11. The day of the people and the end of the autocrat, with his tail in the saddle," concludes Salianj's letter.
