Former Democratic Party MP Dashnor Sula has made a strong statement, saying that Sali Berisha slammed the door in my face and kicked me out of the DP.
Sula said that despite having won the primaries in the Elbasan district and being at the peak of his political activity, he was excluded from the lists to run in the May 11 elections.
He emphasized that his desire was to be included in the open list to show his political power within the party.
" Everything ended there and the door of the house was closed to me, where I had been for many years and Berisha slammed the door in my face. Berisha said whoever likes this house can have their own house. The Democratic Party and others are like a joint-stock company that has your shares, your contributions and if these are not respected there are no rules of the game. I was at my political peak because in the Elbasan district I won the primaries and went out on the streets and they didn't even put me on the open list to run. I wanted to be on the open list to collect votes and to show Berisha this is my power, these are the votes I have. And then they were defeated with so many mandates that no one has ever done before ," he said.
Sula denied that he could return to the Democratic Party, as long as Sali Berisha is at the head of that party.
" I was where I was, performing positively, making contributions, what should I do more? Contributions and values are not respected there, not because another person took my place, because that would be understandable. As long as Berisha is there, I can no longer be in that party. At a time when the SP gets 83 mandates, the DP fell a lot, after getting few mandates. Berisha fights for number two. When he enters the elections with the thought that we will be number two and not one, what does he expect ," he said.
While focusing on the protests that the Democratic Party is holding in front of the Prime Minister's Office, Sula said that the turnout is low because Berisha no longer has anyone to support him. The former MP ironically said that more people gather at a wedding than at the Democratic Party's protests.
" Well, Rama steals the votes, but who steals the people who come to the podium? Take Rama? Berisha can't even collect enough for a wedding. Even at a wedding, more people go. People don't come to him, they don't follow him anymore, because they know what that podium is for. Why will the next one come after him when they know that you are lost. I appreciate every contribution of every simple democracy, but a party must have people who inspire, with contributions and people who know how to speak ," he said.
