The National Assembly of the Democratic Party was also greeted by the Secretary of VMRO-DPMNE and Member of the Parliament of North Macedonia, Dragan Kovački, who conveyed the message of Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and his party's support for the Albanian Democrats.
In his speech, Kovački praised the process of modernization of the Democratic Party, comparing it to the transformation that, according to him, VMRO-DPMNE has undergone in North Macedonia.
"When I see what the Democratic Party is doing; modernization, digitalization, organization of the diaspora, I see the same path, I see the path of success and victory," he declared.
The representative of the ruling party in North Macedonia emphasized that the modern right must adapt to the changes of the times without losing its identity and values.
"VMRO-DPMNE has been on this path, but we renewed, modernized without losing our soul, history and identity. Today we are in government, we lead the country and we are changing it," said Kovacki.
He also emphasized the region's European perspective, stating that the Western Balkan countries should not remain in an endless wait for membership in the European Union.
"The Western Balkans are Europe. The task of the center-right in our region is to achieve EU entry, not as beggars but as equal partners ," he said.
In part of his speech, Kovacki criticized left-wing parties in the region, accusing them of corruption, capture of institutions and damage to democracy.
"The left in our region has embarked on the path from social justice towards corruption, towards the capture of institutions, towards the theft of elections and the destruction of free media," declared Dragan Kovački.
In conclusion, the VMRO-DPMNE official expressed his belief that the Democratic Party will achieve success in the future.
"Our party supports the Democratic Party not only today at this ceremony, but every day. With full confidence I say that you will also win," Kovacki concluded.
Full speech:
Honorable Chairmen, Honorable Members of the National Assembly of the Democratic Party. Dear friends, on behalf of the Prime Minister of Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, and on behalf of VMRO-DPMNE, I convey to you my sincere greetings and sincere congratulations for the National Assembly of the Democratic Party of Albania. Honorable friends of the center-right, it is an honor for me to be in Tirana, in the heart of a country that has continued and continues to fight for freedom, for democracy and for its rightful place in the European family.
I convey to you Macedonia's congratulations, which come from the deep conviction that the future of the Western Balkan countries will be written together by those parties that believe in the same system of values, freedoms, responsibilities, tradition, family, and European civilization.
Dear friends, the center-right of the 21st century cannot be the same as the one of the 20th century. Of course not. The world has changed, technology has changed, voters have changed. And those parties that refuse to modernize disappear. Those that modernize but lose their soul, they too will disappear.
VMRO-DPMNE has been on this path, but we renewed, modernized without losing our soul, history, identity. And the result is clear. Today we are in government, we lead the country and we are changing the country. For this reason, when I see what the Democratic Party is doing; modernization, digitalization, organization of the diaspora, I see the same path, I see the path of success and victory.
The friendship between Macedonia and Albania is not a diplomatic cliché, but a historical and geographical reality. We live side by side. Our citizens are interconnected with each other, with family, with culture, with economy.
What is good for your country is good for mine and vice versa. So let me be clear that the future of the Western Balkans cannot remain in the waiting room of the European Union.
Because EU membership is our right that we have earned through years of reforms, through years of sacrifices and expectations. The Western Balkans are Europe. The task of the center-right in our region is to achieve EU entry, not as beggars but as equal partners. We must not be naive, we have common enemies.
The left in our region, in Tirana, in Skopje, throughout the Western Balkans, has embarked on the path from social justice towards corruption, towards the capture of institutions, towards the theft of elections and the destruction of free media.
It has created a system of abuse and this system must be overthrown. The Democrats of Albania know what it means to be in opposition, under pressure. Our party knows what it means to be in opposition, under pressure. But we persevered and won.
And with full confidence I say that you will win too. Truth, modernization, victory are what come next. This is the only formula. Our party supports the Democratic Party, not only today at this ceremony, but every day. During every effort, at every European table where our common future is decided. Once again, on behalf of the party and on behalf of its chairman and the prime minister, I wish you success and above all, victory. Thank you.
