Former president Bamir Topi has commented on his participation in a roundtable on the electoral code called a few days ago by the head of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha. He said he honored the invitation and attended that roundtable as a former president.
Bamir Topi emphasized that he is not part of any party, but according to him, Basha is the one who represented the opposition.
"I had an invitation to a table dealing with election issues. I respected Basha's invitation. I clarified my status. I said that I am not part of any party and I am coming as a former president. 2008 was not just an event.
We talk about actuality. When I say I have clearly defined my status, I am in complete coherence when I said that Basha will change his role, I will support him. I have always talked about institutions. It is in my political and civic culture. When I have seen the country in a marked absence of the opposition position, without a doubt I have asked for the opposition to be in position. The one who represented the opposition was undoubtedly Mr. Basha" , said the former president to "News 24".
