Gazment Bardhi, political leader of the DP in Fier, has reacted after the police escorted the DP candidate in the Fier district, Fation Semanjaku, describing the event as an unprecedented act and a serious violation of the electoral process.
In an official statement, Bardhi accused the state police and the socialist mayor of Fier, Armando Subashi, of deliberately obstructing the opposition during the campaign.
"Candidate Semanjaku was prevented from campaigning through stands by thugs in the uniform of the corrupt head of the Fier municipality, Armando Subashi.
"Then, his forcible escort to the police station was ordered. This is an unprecedented act that shows how the state has merged with the party," said Bardhi.
He emphasized that the purpose of this action is to intimidate opposition candidates in the last week of the campaign for the May 11 elections and publicly warned police leaders in Fier for involvement in illegal political activities.
"We have information on file that police leaders in Fier have been involved in the campaign on behalf of Belinda Balluku," declared Bardhi, accusing the current deputy prime minister of illegal interference in the election race.
