It is expected with interest if, during his speech at the congress, Edi Rama will name the successor of Lindita Nikolla, who for health reasons resigned on Friday from the leadership of the Assembly of Albania.
The Socialist Party convenes today the Congress, the highest decision-making body in the party.
Chief Socialist Edi Rama, the ministers of the government cabinet have arrived at the Palace of Congresses, where the work is expected to start around 11:00. Meanwhile, most of the delegates have gathered earlier and are carrying out the verification process.
The delegates to this Congress will elect the general assembly composed of about 400 members.
At the request of the president of the SP Edi Rama, for the first time there will be no director of directors in the new assembly. The speech of the chief socialist Edi Rama is awaited with interest on what objectives he will set for the SP for the parliamentary elections of 2025.
Immediately after the speeches, the voting process for the new members of the assembly will begin, which as a primary issue will have the election of the new secretariat of the SP, all dismissed by Rama, from July 2023.
The congress is expected to have two panels where good governance, anti-corruption, and tourism will be discussed.
It remains to be seen if during the speech at the congress Edi Rama will prefer to say the name of the successor of Lindita Nikolla, who for health reasons resigned on Friday from the leadership of the Parliament of Albania. The names of who will potentially be Nikola's successor are Spiropali and Çuçi.
If this will not happen in the congress, then shortly before the start of the autumn parliamentary session, the name of the new speaker of the assembly will be announced.
