From the appointment of the new ambassador to corruption, how will the US

The politics of Tirana with an eye on the elections in the USA...

The United States of America votes today for the new president. Undoubtedly, the elections in the USA are followed with interest all over the world, especially in Albania. But what impact will these elections have on our country?

In general, American policy for our country has not changed, regardless of who is in the White House. The USA has supported the Balkans and Albania with Kosovo since 1991 until today.

But the elections there may bring some developments. First, the arrival of the new ambassador is expected to be unlocked.

If Trump wins, we will most likely have a different name. Biden has proposed David Kostelancik. But the latter has been blocked for almost two years by the Republicans, who do not give their vote in the Senate. The signals are that the elections were expected, as Trump is looking for a confidant in our country.

Even if Harris wins, we'll still have a new proposal. According to American law, at the beginning of each year the nominations are revoked and the president must propose a new name, either the current one or another. Biden nominated Kostelacik for the second time. But if Harris is elected president, it is up to her to decide and can propose names from her ranks.

But in both cases it will have to be decided again by the Senate. So we have to see who will get the majority there, to unlock the process. Whatever the case may be, next year will probably find Tirana with a new ambassador from the USA, after the departure of Yuri Kim.

Next, it is very important to see support for justice reform. The US has thrown millions and is also guiding and helping SPAK in the fight against corruption. In such cases, US policy does not change, but if Trump comes, we have to see what happens.

Berisha, Meta and many MPs of the opposition are hoping that he will win, with the hope that he will influence justice and they will give him peace. Berisha expects to be removed non grata, but forgets that it was the Trump administration that copied the papers and Blinken only signed them.

But the opposite can also happen. Let's not forget that it was the Trump administration that introduced the "non grata" system. In 2018, Adriatik Llalla and others after him were declared undesirable. So, his arrival can give another boost to the anti-corruption fight.

However, we have to wait and see, it is up to the American citizens to decide who will be in charge of the White House. / Pamphlet
