The meeting of the Conference of Speakers in the Assembly was accompanied today by fierce debates between opposition and majority MPs. Freedom Party MP Tedi Blushi demanded the urgent establishment of a Parliamentary Investigative Committee for the theft of European Union IPARD funds, while the clash with Taulant Balla degenerated into direct accusations of protecting government affairs.

According to Blushi, Albanian farmers are being punished due to abuses of EU funds, which he says were embezzled by family members and clients of the Rama government. He stressed that in just two years, Albania has lost over 224 million euros in aid, while agriculture is experiencing financial collapse.

" The investigation into the theft of IPARD funds is a national emergency. Farmers lose 112 million euros in EU aid every year just because it ends up in incinerators and government family members. SPAK has no will to investigate because this affair leads to Rama himself. If even the judiciary does not react, the Parliament must find out who stole the aid from the farmers ," Blushi declared.

He directly accused the Minister of Interior, Taulant Balla, of obstructing the establishment of the investigative commission; according to him, this is a clear violation of the Constitution and an attempt to hide an affair with criminal consequences.

Meanwhile, the head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, requested that the review of the state budget draft be postponed until next week, until the fiscal package is also presented to the Assembly. Bardhi argued that approving the budget without the financial package constitutes a violation of parliamentary regulations and practices.

" We cannot vote on the budget without the fiscal package. This Assembly has never done such a thing. The Minister of Finance himself said that the package is coming next week. So, let's review it together next week, as the Constitution requires ," said Bardhi.

The meeting closed without a decision on the Investigative Committee, while debates are expected to return to tomorrow's plenary session.
