The Special Prosecution Office is expected to soon withdraw from the CEC the expenses document submitted by the DP.
The DP's payment of 1.4 million euros to Chris LaCivita is expected to pass through the CEC and SPAK's scrutiny.
Two days ago, the huge sum that Sali Berisha and Fatmir Meidu paid for the American campaign strategist was revealed. The payment was kept secret until the last moment and it is a really big sum.
According to the financial report submitted to the CEC, the DP paid 1.4 million euros to Chris LaCivita, along with his team, consisting of another former campaigner Paul Manafort and Stewart Jackson. On the other hand, this DP invoice is attached to the lobbying contract in the US for the removal of Sali Berisha's non-wife. In a few months of the campaign, for only two contracts, the DP spent 7.4 million dollars.
SPAK has currently launched an investigation into the DP's lobbying contract. It is learned that SPAK has also sent a letter of request to the US. But according to sources, the payment contract for LaCivita is expected to be attached to the file. It is learned that the Special Prosecution is expected to very soon withdraw the expenses document submitted by the DP from the CEC.
Meanwhile, the CEC itself is expected to launch an audit of all financial reports, including that of the DP, and if violations are found, there will be a referral to the prosecutor's office.
" It is still too early to comment on how much and how political parties have spent on the campaign. An analysis is needed, we will conduct an audit at the CEC to see how this money was spent and, moreover, the financing of political parties ," said the head of the CEC, Ilirjan Ceibashi, today.
