From Meta to Jenisher, Berisha's 'frightening' coalition for May

Most of the names that will appear alongside Berisha as allies have no electoral weight, but it seems that this is of no interest.

Sali Berisha, leader of the Democratic Party of Albania (DP), has declared in almost every public appearance that he will create the largest coalition against Edi Rama for the May 11 elections, and has even promised his overthrow.

Caught on many occasions in political agreements, but not only with Rama, Berisha has returned to old schemes to gather around him individuals who have a stamp in their pocket, even though many characters are the subject of memes on social networks.

And while the DP is expected to be involved in the primaries, where those aspiring for a place on the lists of deputies will be voted on by the membership, Berisha has instructed the vice-presidents and the Secretariat to shape what he considers to be the winning coalition.

But who will be included in the coalition led by Berisha?

First is Ilir Meta with the Freedom Party, which is also the main ally of the Democrats on May 11. Then comes Agron Duka's PAA which is negotiating, Vangjel Dule's PBDNJ which seems to have been agreed upon, Nard Ndoka's PDK which will compete as part of the DP list, Fatmir Mediu's PR which has no other choice, while there is uncertainty about Shpëtim Idrizi's PDIU, whether or not it will be part of this coalition.

So far, the situation seems to be within normal limits, as these are subjects that, in one way or another, have survived political developments in the country through schemes or bargaining.

But in the name of expanding the coalition, Selami Jenisheri, Kostaq Papa, Gjovalin Shqalsi, Nikolin Staka, Kujtim Gjuzi, Zef Shtjefni, Adriatik Alimadhi, and many others from the long list of parties that have been registered in Albania will also be at Berisha's side on May 11.

At least 10 more names that have a seal in their pocket and a logo registered with the Court will be added to this list, and in the end the 'winning coalition' will be revealed.

Jenisher, Papa and Gjuzi belong to the group of MPs who received their mandates after the PD-LSI handed them over in 2019, while for months they became the subject of memes precisely by those who are now on Berisha's side.

Most of the names that will appear alongside Berisha as allies do not have any electoral weight, but it seems that this does not matter.

It is not surprising that the scheme to present itself with the largest possible coalition of individuals can surprise even the American campaign advisor, when he sees a list of 20 or 30 party names, all of which together cannot gather enough votes to secure even a half-term deputy. /Pamphlet/
