The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama considered the work of RAI 3 journalists without any legal value and without any factual basis, compared to the scandals that were reported in the material of REPORT. According to Rama, the work of Italian journalists resembled a State Security file, built on rumors and unverified statements.
Rama denied the testimony of Arben Ahmetaj, as a "person declared internationally wanted", attacked Sali Berisha for the "house arrest by SPAK" and refuted Fatos Lubonja as a "veteran in half-truths against him". He himself boasted that he faced the questions of Italian journalists and did not hide from the confrontation in an interview, which he broadcast uncensored.
However, in Rama's reaction, which you can read in full below, there is also a trick, a trick, a manipulation that describes his speech everywhere in the lines. While talking about the material of REPORT, Rama tries to bully Albanian citizens into inferiority complexes in front of foreigners, since the accusations of corruption leveled at him and his government are like "mud" thrown at the flag, the nation and every Albanian.
Through the lines, Rama mentions "undeserved mud for Albania", continuing that they "are used to see us and treat Albania as a third world country, they cannot forgive us the success, the liberation from the shadows of the past, the head of lifted up".
This comparison that Rama makes to his corrupt government with the flag and Albania has two explanations.
The first, which should not be ruled out, is that Rama has gone into delirium. He now identifies himself with Albania. This would not be the first time an autocrat enters this (il)logical stage. Rama has been holding a state post for 24 years. The circle of serviles used to compare him with Ismail Qemali, while in the third term, they compare him with Skenderbeu.
The second explanation excludes delusion, but is based on manipulation. By provoking the feeling of racism, which many Albanians have felt on their backs during the years of emigration, Rama tries to undo the image of the corrupt and the accomplice with the crime and escape from the responsibility for the scandals of his government.
In fact, the opposite is true. The Italian journalist Xorxhio Motola emphasized several times in the interview with Rama that he had nothing to do with the Albanians.
The RAITRE film crew did not come to Albania to throw mud at the Albanian nation, but to report the scandals of Rama's government. In the show, the Albanian flag was never mentioned, the Albanian nation was never mentioned, or there was nothing about the history of Albania. The show focused on the investigation of corruption and the links of crime with people close to Edi Rama. But this difference is purposefully lost in Rama's reaction. / Pencil
