Another name has withdrawn from running for MP in the May 11 elections. This is Gloria Shllaku, who was running on the open list of the Shkodra District, for the 'Greater Albania' coalition led by Sali Berisha's Democratic Party.
Shllaku states that there is no dissatisfaction or resentment in this case, but a sovereign decision, made by her, to make way for another democrat, Aurel Markaj.
Gloria Shllaku's reaction:
As a candidate of the AShM coalition, I declare my withdrawal from the open list in the Shkodra District, but not from the race for the May 11 elections. It is the race of all democrats, regardless of whether they are on the list or not.
Thanking all supporters, the branch of the Democratic Party in Shkodra, the political leader Mr. Boçi, and the Shkodra Democrats, I take this step with the belief that the goal is not private accommodation, but shared victory.
No resentment or bitterness in this case, but a sovereign decision, made by me to make way for another democrat, Aurel Markaj, and in this way to maximize votes, increase cohesion and enable political rotation in Albania.
This is a decision that takes into account the configuration of the areas of our region, and I think that Aureli would ensure a better proportion of candidates on the Shkodra list. The geographical territory requires political embrace, also based on origin, activity and connections.
I wish Aurel success, and he, along with the other candidates of the Alliance for a Greater Albania, will have my unsparing support.
For the Great Shkodra, for a common Albania!
