The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in a statement to the media spoke about yesterday's national protest, emphasizing that he condemns 'police terror' against protesters.
The leader of the DP accused the government of links to criminal structures and of illegal control over citizens' data.
Berisha declared that the opposition's battle will continue until the current government is removed, a caretaker government is established, and free elections are held.
"Every Albanian should be clear that we are dealing with a life-or-death confrontation of Albanian democracy. Edi Rama will not lift the immunity of Lubi Balluku because he is himself behind the acts committed by her. Edi Rama is buying time. He is ready and able to change every law and regulation to remove everything from legal responsibility. This would mark the death of the opposition and its political annihilation.
I guarantee the Albanians that the suppression of the opposition is the suppression of internal sovereignty. A criminal gang, implicated in serious acts, hostage-taking and disappearances, data controls of Albanian citizens, of all transaction movements, can never continue... so our battle continues until victory and we will win this battle. Edi Rama thinks of using the mandates as puppets of crime but he is seriously mistaken. Everything is in the hands of the citizens now.
"I am here to denounce with the greatest force, the provocation and police terror against young people who have absolutely not committed the slightest act of violence. 10 have been detained, of whom 4 have been arrested. Two of them are Kosovars, tourists who came, and they were arrested by the police as soon as they found out that they were Kosovars in order to accuse the citizens of Kosovo of participating in the protest. The truth is that they both came as tourists," said Berisha.
