The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, during a meeting he held in two 9-year-old schools in Fier, emphasized the necessity of creating Tax Forces in each district for this function, which will be headed by the Prefect.
The goal is to coordinate the measures taken by institutions at the local level, starting from the State Police, the municipal police, AKU or the State Health Inspectorate of IKMT.
The Minister said that the Security Package envisages a new, tougher criminal approach, referring to criminal offenses that endanger the safety of students.
" Our responsibility is not simple and only inside the yard, because almost in 99% of cases nothing happens to us inside the school yards, problems happen to us in the surrounding areas. We have made an interaction of all the institutions, where naturally the State Police will take on a new role, compared to what it has had.
We will go to the Assembly to request that there be harsher penalties for the criminal offenses that occur around this perimeter, to possibly go double, e.g. a person who distributes narcotics within this perimeter is punished more severely. It is a consolidated model taken from countries with consolidated security, one such model is in the United States. Within this perimeter, let's increase our preventive power", said the minister.
He added that students and young people should have a sense of trust in the State Police.
A day ago, together with the Minister of Education and Sports, Minister Balla presented the complete School Security Package, through the engagement of many structures, it is intended to guarantee another level of security at educational institutions.
The package contains measures for public safety, road safety, food safety, hygiene and urban safety, where a key role will be played by school security officers and, without a doubt, the contribution of every parent," said Balla .
