The Pact with Italy in the Constitutional Court puts PD MPs in a

In the closed-door meeting of the DP parliamentary group, held yesterday, Gazment Bardhi proposed that Albania's agreement with Italy for immigrants be taken to the Constitutional Court. This proposal was supported by the majority of deputies, but Tritan Shehu opposed it.

From the disclosure of the discussions, which was made by the journalist Osman Stafa, Xhelal Mziu addressed the Shehu, saying that they should all be one voice for this agreement.

Gazment Bardhi:  I propose two issues to be discussed at today's meeting. The first is related to the issue of the immigrant agreement and others to the opposition action. First, I think that based on the experts' analysis, I propose that the agreement be sent to the Constitutional Court before ratification.

I believe that the opposition has the duty to protect the public interest. However, I am open to hearing the assessment of each colleague. As for the opposition action, I believe that our resistance serves the interests of the citizens and it should continue even more strongly.

Gjekmarkaj : I am not in favor of a conflict with Italy on the issue of refugees, like many I am affiliated with this country, but the interests of my country prevail, so the best way to examine its legality is to go through the Constitutional Court.

Tritan Shehu: I don't sign it!

Xelal Mziu:   Do we function as a group or not? If we are a group, we must all sign. If we are not a group and if we are going to see our personal interests, then why do we call ourselves a group? We must all sign

Tritan Shehu: The only authority I know here is Sali Berisha. I am not part of the DP parliamentary group, because I was expelled.

Salianji : The parliamentary group has regulations, this is a step and a real act because we cannot fight half-hearted battles. We publicly opposed this agreement, the opposition in Italy opposes it, Salvini who is a coalition partner opposed it, and so did almost every organization that protects human rights.

Ina Zhupa: The agreement with Italy is not in accordance with the national interest, of the Albanians, nor with the constitution. Jurisdiction in our territory is only us and at most Nato, for joint missions. We cannot give part of our territory to any other country, no matter how friendly we are. When it comes to choosing between Albania and any other country, I choose the interests of my country. This is realism and in international relations, those before us would choose the same. I think we all agree on this too. As for the possible breakdown of relations with Italy, it does not stand. First, the SP brought the agreement with the sea to the Constitutional Court and did not break any relations with Greece, on the contrary, it strengthened them. Secondly, going to the constitutional, on the contrary, makes us more honest with Italy, that we do not have a political attack, but it is related to the country's constitution and the court will speak. We undertake to respect the verdict of the Constitutional Court.

Asllan Dogjani: Italians don't vote for us, Albanians vote for us. The Italian opposition has opposed this agreement. And we don't take you to the Constitutional Court?! They are bringing the immigrants to a prison here. I will sign the request to take this agreement to the Constitutional Court.

Berisha: The absurdity is that a left-wing party in Albania cooperates with a right-wing one in Italy. The left itself in Italy is opposing it. We will go and take it to the Constitutional Court and then we will respect the Court's decision. / BW
