Pano Soko from Nisma Thurje commented on the diaspora vote in the May 11 parliamentary elections, which he said he considers free votes, unlike those here which are politically influenced.
He said that Albanian citizens do not vote for their ideology, but for the oppression they face.
According to him, the Socialist Party is structurally trying to win the vote of the diaspora with the same method it is doing in Albania, but I see it exhausted in the capacities it has to benefit from.
" I believe that in the end, what differentiates the diaspora vote from those who are here is their freedom in relation to the government, and we have seen that since 2020, when the first draft for the diaspora vote was launched by the Nisma Thurje, and the premise was like that."
Albania's problem has been that votes are influenced by vested interests and pressures placed on voters, meaning Albanian voters, due to their own socio-economic situation, have not been free enough to vote for their political beliefs.
While the diaspora voters, being detached from this pressure, we consider it a free vote. Now I see the PS structurally trying for the diaspora vote with the same method they are doing in Albania, they have gone there, they have set up branches, so what they did in every city in Albania they are doing in the diaspora as well, but I see the PS exhausted in the capacities that it has to benefit from , "he said in "MCN".
Regarding the 46 deputies elected by the president, Soko said that with this new system, the lists have been closed for more than 2/3 of the mandates in parliament.
" 46 will happen to be from the closed list if only one party wins and the rest from the open list. The other 94, what could happen with this new system is that over 2/3 of the parliament will be from the closed list."
"If we have a multispectrum in tomorrow's representation in parliament, there is a possibility that the elected deputies will be 90-95%, so what happened with the electoral code has closed the list for more than 2/3 of them because it is expected that 46 deputies of each party entering parliament will be from the closed list ," he said.
