Ferdinand Xhaferaj described the abandonment of Ervin Salianj by party leaders on the day he was released from prison and went to headquarters as a sad and shameful day.
Xhaferaj, who did not run for MP on May 11, said that while there should have been solidarity with Salianji, they all hid and remained silent because they were afraid of him for the act he committed.
From the Report TV studio, he emphasized that the DP belongs to a gang chosen by Berisha, who has turned the party into a shack for personal interests, and as its captain is sinking the ship.
Announcing changes and new elections within the DP in the fall, he underlined that if these changes are not made with new alternatives like Salianji, then the loss in the local elections will be even deeper.
For Xhaferaj, Berisha's time is over, he has become like a computer with Microsoft's 1995 Windows, filled with viruses from Gërdec or January 21.
"It was a sad day. Instead of turning into a day of solidarity in the DP, it turned into a day of its great destruction, a day of shame. This showed that the party has not risen and does not serve as an alternative to overthrow Edi Rama, but has turned into a shack, which only serves the personal interests of the chairman and anyone else there.
"Salijanji was imprisoned for denunciation, I can't say political, and the party received him with silence. Even that concealment and silence shows who the DP really belongs to. The silence and concealment I think showed fear. But for what? Not for Salianji, but for his act, that it was a denunciation of corruption. And it shows who the party belongs to, a gang that was bought by Berisha, those 50 mandates once to go to the balcony and once to SPAK. The Democrats are with Salianji, they want an alternative", said Xhaferaj.
He insisted on reforming the DP and on Berisha's removal, because his time was up and staying at the helm would only further ruin the party and he would become a captain who is sinking the ship. He demanded that space be left for new alternatives like Ervin Salianji.
"This fall there should be elections for the DP. Look at the orders for the dismissal of directors, this is a collapse of the government and the institution, they have all failed, who left the constructions? Even these anti-institutional actions of the prime minister show the weak opposition. The government does not abuse power in this way when the opposition is strong. Where has our representation degraded? Only in the expression of the personal distress of the party chairman, who has turned into a captain who is sinking the ship," continued the former democrat MP.
Xhaferaj indicates that the environment in the DP after Salianja's exit is boiling and his action is the right one to revive the party, giving it support.
"Salijanji's action is the right one, to revive the Democratic Party. I will support both Mr. Salianji and others who rely on these principles and alternatives, against the government, he will definitely have my personal support. I did not warn him, it is the environment that is boiling, a senior leader of the DP convicted of denouncing, comes out and goes to the headquarters, the others hide. The statute is not respected there, it functions like a squad. If the statute functioned, the first one who should leave is Berisha. Salianji does not do it, someone else will do it, an alternative will not be born in the fall, it will start in the spring", he underlined.
The former MP implied that the election result was also predetermined, as the prime minister captured Berisha, through justice and the party's seal.
"The result was predetermined, the match was rigged, they were shameful matches, I have said it. This Salijanj incident also shows this. That is why the opposition leader says that the elections were stolen, that he should say that, otherwise he should leave. That is why the OSCE-ODIHR report was made in that way, according to my information, the government is interested in little criticism within the report, for Berisha to be at the head of the DP, and to claim election manipulation, to have him in front. If he wants to have him there, he has caught him, both with the justice system and with giving the seal of approval", emphasized Xhaferaj.
