Member of the Democratic Party leadership, Ervin Salianji, spoke about the problems of the Democratic Party and the crisis it is experiencing after losing the parliamentary elections for the third time in a row.
Salianji said that in the DP there is a group of people who consider themselves privileged and have no connection with the ordinary supporters of the party. Salianji stated that the DP cannot come to power only with the votes of Sali Berisha. According to him, a mechanism must be found to go beyond Berisha's votes to achieve a major victory in the elections.
"There is a reason why I and a group of Democrats are making such a move. There are two positions for the DP. One position, that we are fine like this and Rama is to blame. Every time we lose elections, it is an official position, there are some salaried people and some who sacrifice. Some privileged people, who think that the Democrats owe them and these are important. The fact that this position was not changing, I thought that we should say some truths as I am. You say what does Salianji want? I want what every democrat wants, I want the DP to be a winning party. Do the Democrats want this? Do the Democrats want the DP to be a winning party? I believe so. Can the DP win? Yes. Can it come to power like this? No. With the behavior that the DP has, not the party, the leaders of the DP, it cannot come to power. You say it is wrinkled. There were partial elections, the DP received 2500 votes in Vlora… We went to 1700 votes in Cërrik, 1000 votes in Tepelena. In five municipalities, he can't even get a mandate. These are warning signs that a politician should read.
Is the DP comfortable with losing? I think so. Many DP leaders are comfortable with losing, they don't get tired of being winners. There is a privilege more than some others. The disease of oppositionism, which thinks that you have some privileges. We have serial losses and people who don't bear any responsibility. There is distance from the Democrats, the halls are filling up with us and this shows, the Democrats are neglected, abandoned. We lack representation. Some rules were set, the one who gets the most votes is promoted. Were those of the primaries set? No. Sali Berisha has a considerable number of votes. Because he is a symbol in the DP, he has been for 35 years, he will always have a number of votes, but it is not enough to come to power. We need to find the mechanism, to go beyond the votes that Berisha has in the DP, for the DP to be a winning party ", said Salianji, invited to the show "Të Paekspozuarit".
