MP Ervin Salianji has reacted to the statement of the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, according to which the DP received more votes during the period when Salianji was in prison.
In his response, Salianji emphasized that the path to victory passes through the analysis of concrete cases where the Democratic Party has managed to regain previously lost municipalities and areas, describing this process as necessary to understand what really works on the ground.
According to Salianj, victories in certain municipalities and areas are not accidental, but the result of proper representation and organization.
He cited as examples Kavaja, Kruja, Tropoja, Hasi, Kukës and Mirdita, areas that according to him were lost in 2023, but were later regained.
"The Democratic Party should analyze the victory. Where it won in 7 areas, let's take this model and see: how we won in these areas," said Salianji in the "Real Story" studio.
"First, once a path is paved to win when you are losing. So, to return a municipality and without a doubt that the commitment there of the mayor, the former party leader and the entire structure that was established and became a winner without a doubt, then, that this shows and makes another element that is necessary to discuss. How is it possible that starting from Kavaja, Kruja, Tropoja, which was won, which was lost in 2023, Hasi, Kukësi and Mirdita or other areas were won. So, it means that if the right representatives are found... I said this that seems paradoxical, but in fact, the Democratic Party must analyze the victory. Where it has won 7 areas, let's take this model, how we won in these areas.
The fact that the meetings are larger than those I have held in the same areas that the party leader has held, means that people have more motivation to come here or not, at least. The DP is not only not doing an analysis, but is trying to convince all Albanians that we will not win the elections, or that Edi Rama is stealing from us, but this is not an analysis. There is no Albanian citizen today, a democrat who does not know that Edi Rama uses certain instruments to deform the will of the voters. How do we solve it?! To be like Rama?! No, we have to be different. Small parties received 200 thousand votes, these are votes that the DP lacked. We do not have youth representation. To cure a disease, you have to accept it first. Does the DP have a problem in urban centers, or not? I understand that there is involvement of crime, money, power, but in certain areas. Why do we lose in certain areas, in the middle of Tirana?! Because there are people who do not go out to vote. "How do we motivate these people?" he said.
Salianji criticized the current leadership of the DP for a lack of in-depth analysis and for focusing, according to him, only on justifying losses.
"The DP is not only not doing analysis, but is trying to convince all Albanians that we will not win the elections, or that Edi Rama is stealing from us. But this is not analysis," he declared. He added that it is known to every citizen and democrat that Prime Minister Edi Rama, according to the opposition, uses instruments to deform the will of the voters, but the main question remains how the opposition should react to this situation.
"How do we solve this? Be like Rama?!" Salianji said, emphasizing the need for a different political approach.
Claiming support on the ground
In his statement, Salianji also claimed that in some areas, the meetings he held had greater participation compared to those of the party chairman, which according to him indicates a higher level of motivation among citizens.
This claim was presented as an argument for the need to review the way the DP selects representatives and builds relationships with its electoral base.
