The head of the official Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha expressed unconditional support for the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPAK). From the meeting that Basha had with the democrats of Kruja, he emphasized that if you are against corruption, then SPAK should not be attacked.
Basha also mocked former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who constantly calls SPAK a criminal organization.
Chief Democrat Basha emphasized that it is up to the DP to give SPAK unconditional support for the demolition of the wall of impunity.
" Indeed, SPAK has just been created and has begun to code corruption at high levels. Of course, it is still on trial, not in front of me, but in front of the public trial that is waiting to take what he started to the end and destroy impunity in Albania, hitting the most powerful people, hitting those who have already exposed each other pointed at me as corrupt, as was the case of Arben Ahmetaj last week when he pointed at Edi Rama and Veliaj as the real owners of the incinerators, along with him of course.
Now that this work has started, it is up to us as a political party to step aside or attack justice, or it is up to us to give unconditional support for the demolition of the wall of impunity, for the uncompromising fight against corruption. This is a question that separates alum from sugar, separates white from black. If all day long you say I am against corruption, Rama is the most corrupt on the planet and then you say SKAPI criminal organization where are we? Who will do justice? The party? No doubt not. Nobody has the blank check. All must be in evidence. This is the meaning of the rule of law.
At the moment you have the mandate, the duty of political institutions such as DP is to decide for or against corruption. If you are against corruption, you have an obligation to be pro-SPAK, pro-investigation of the corrupt, pro-ending impunity. This is the meaning of our position and our alignment with SPAK unconditionally ", said Basha.
