Democratic Party MP Gazment Bardhi has reacted to Prime Minister Rama's accusations against Judge Hazbi Balliu regarding a confiscated palace.
Bardhi considered this a flagrant act aimed at destroying the independence of justice.
Bardhi stated that "Rama approved a law in 2022 that legalized unauthorized construction for his oligarchs in Tirana, although he is now attacking a new magistrate solely for the fact that the latter had implemented the law that the prime minister himself approved."
The DP MP demanded immediate reaction from the High Judicial Council and the High Prosecutorial Council to protect the integrity and independence of the judiciary.
"Independent, impartial, honest and integrity-based judges and prosecutors have no reason to worry as long as they obey only the Constitution and the law in their decision-making, regardless of whether this makes Edi Rama, his government or the Socialist Party unhappy."
Meanwhile, anyone, inside and outside the country, who has eyes to see and ears to hear can understand how 'sincere' Edi Rama and the Socialist Party are about reforming the justice system, the independence of the judiciary and guaranteeing the rule of law. For them, the only "justice" that works is the one that imprisons political opponents, drags out investigations into government corruption and amnesties electoral crimes," Bardhi writes on Facebook.
