The leader of the "Weaving Initiative", Endri Shabani, has revealed the behind-the-scenes of the deep crisis that has engulfed this new political formation, including a threatening audio and strong clashes with Adriatik Lapaj.
Shabani confirmed that he has received death threats from people close to Mr. Lapaj, due to the failure of his uncle, Zeqir Kordhoni, to resign from the closed list.
According to him, the closed list was filled with relatives of the candidates with the agreement that they would resign after the elections, in order to favor the ranking according to the votes of the open list. But the failure to respect this agreement has led to deep divisions within the coalition.
"The threat was the last straw. But there have been constant pressures, which are the essence of the conflict. What we have seen is an authoritarian and acquisitive tendency, as well as a lack of responsibility from those who have led the coalition. This is not what we expect from new parties," said Shabani, adding that reports have been filed and he expects justice to intervene.
"This matter has not yet become the subject of justice. The file is ready and the threatened persons have the right to take it to SPAK, because it is an electoral crime. Personally, I would not want to take this matter to the doors of justice, but I cannot prevent those who have been threatened from doing so."
Faced with accusations that he is playing the Socialist Party's game, Shabani stated categorically that he has no connection with Edi Rama.
"There is no one more promoted by Edi Rama than Adriatik Lapaj. Since 2000, Rama has not appeared in a public debate with anyone except Adriatik Lapaj. This clearly shows who is promoted by Rama and who has fought this government," he told "Dritare TV".
