The clashes of the last few days between Athens and Tirana have also disturbed Albanian politics. Edi Rama was not invited to Athens for an informal dinner, while Greece is attacking our country for Beler's arrest.
The situation has divided politics into two parts and there are some opposition MPs who have come out in support of the Prime Minister as far as this confrontation is concerned. Yesterday it was Kreshnik Çollaku, while today it was Ferdinand Xhaferraj, who seeks unity in the national interest.
" I have never stopped stressing the necessity for Albanian politics to be unified when it comes to national issues. This, especially when it comes to problematic regional policies and beyond.
Despite the deep divisions I have with Prime Minister Rama when it comes to the way he governs the country or the personalization of the state in his name and the escalation he has made to the institutions, but if I have to choose between the diversionary provocation that Athens exposes and the attitude of the Albanian government, I unequivocally support Albania's position.
From Greece, we would expect more support and inspiration to go towards European models and not a return to the Byzantine style of doing politics ," writes Xhaferaj.
While Kreshnik Çollaku said yesterday: " I will fight every day and every hour in Albania to overthrow the government of Edi Rama. But today Albania is clearly facing a nationalist blackmail covered with European rhetoric. In the face of such blackmails, Albanians must be unified, and Kosovo must stand by Albania ."
