Malaj is said to have attempted to punch Hasan, while those present were left stunned...
A dramatic clash with harsh tones, personal insults and physical threats has shaken the Prime Minister's Office.
According to reliable sources from the Ministry of Justice, in the lobby (in front of the room) leading to the office of Prime Minister Edi Rama, an unprecedented brawl broke out between the Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani. The situation escalated rapidly, with Malaj raising his voice and approaching Hasani in a threatening manner. At the most critical moments, Malaj is said to have attempted to punch Hasani, while those present were left stunned.
The tension was so high that witnesses say that the words used by Malaj would have been more befitting a street thug than a member of the government cabinet. But at this critical moment, the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, intervened decisively, stepping between them and with great difficulty avoiding a physical clash. "I had to shout loudly for them to stop... it was like a fight between street teenagers," Manja is reported to have said to a close circle. But the drama does not end there. After Minister Manja's intervention, Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku also appeared in the lobby, alarmed by the noise. Sharp and outraged, she immediately demanded to know who was the cause of the fight. Manja, without hesitation, declared that Petrit Malaj was to blame, placing all responsibility for the incident on him.
Balluku took a tough stance, forcing Malaj to publicly apologize to his colleague Hasani, which he did with great laziness and nervousness. "This is not a neighborhood cafe! This is the government of a state!", Balluku is reported to have said, while everyone was silent. But the situation was also urgently handled by Prime Minister Rama's close staff, who was in an official meeting at the time and was immediately informed about the incident.
The scandal has been referred to in government circles as a “day of shame for the cabinet” and comes at a time when Prime Minister Rama has warned of purges in local and central government. The incident has even increased tensions within the government and fueled speculation about a possible ministerial reshuffle expected in the coming months.
Officially, the Prime Minister's Office has not yet made any statement about this incident, but confidential sources speak of Rama's deep anger. However, all eyes are now on the next moves in the government, while the question that arises is: will this majority withstand the pressure of internal explosions? /Gazeta Sot
