Democratic leader Sali Berisha commented today, during a media conference, on the order of US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, which prohibits US Embassies from commenting on justice issues or elections in the countries where they serve.
According to Berisha, this shows why Edi Rama did not receive any congratulations for the May 11 elections, which the democratic leader considers an electoral farce.
"The official policies of the US administration based on the 'America First' principle are already clear, but for a NATO member country where electoral farces are taking place, it says that Rubio congratulates the president of this country on his victory, but Edi Rama has no one to write to. He did not receive any congratulations. I understood. They forgot that they helped me. One of the journalists accredited to the White House said that the elections were not accredited, they were not free. This is my comment," Berisha said.
For the May 11 elections, the DP hired Chris LaCivita as campaign strategist, while a contract was also signed with a lobbying company in the US, worth a total of 6 million dollars. At the time, it was said that lobbying in the US would be done not only in relation to the US Congress and Senate to establish a new stage in relations with the DP, but also regarding the lifting of the 'non grata' sanction that the Democratic administration of President Joe Biden imposed on former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
