The President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj, was honored today with the title "Doctor Honoris Causa" by the public university "Kadri Zeka" of Gjilan, in a solemn ceremony where the importance of quality education for the future of the Albanian nation was emphasized.
In his speech, President Begaj praised this title not only as a personal honor, but as a responsibility to support higher education and invest in the younger generations.
"We must raise a knowledgeable generation, with morality, with a sense of belonging, responsibility and national interest," he said.
Analyzing the challenges of higher education, the head of state emphasized that our countries need skilled professionals with integrity.
“It is not enough to have more universities and degrees. We need more scientists, entrepreneurs, thinkers and responsible leaders who think about the next generation,” he declared.
In a world that is rapidly being transformed by technology and artificial intelligence, the president called for the preparation of a competitive society and the active involvement of Albania and Kosovo in the creation of knowledge, not just in its consumption. “Technology today is a filter that divides nations: into those that lead and those that follow. We must be active contributors,” he said.
The President also emphasized that the success of Albanians in various fields such as medicine, science, art or diplomacy is the result of their investment in knowledge and values, emphasizing that every generation that has moved forward has done so through knowledge, not luck.
He appealed for the creation of conditions for these bright minds to contribute to the country: "A nation that has an educated youth is a nation that cannot be stopped. A nation that invests in its youth moves confidently towards the future."
After the ceremony, President Begaj, together with the leaders of the "Kadri Zeka" University, planted a tree in the courtyard of the rectorate, as a symbol of growth and the future. Afterwards, he also visited the house-museum of the national hero Rexhep Mala.
