The Albanian Parliament today issued a joint statement on the trial taking place at the Specialist Chambers in The Hague against former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
The head of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, emphasized that this letter is fully consistent with the stance that this political force has always held towards the judicial process.
"If Adem Jashari were alive today, he too, according to these prosecutors, should have been sentenced to 45 years in prison for fighting for the freedom of his country. Our national hero, along with the other heroes mentioned here, cannot face this indictment because the occupier killed them," he said at the start of his speech.
The pretense, he said, is a terrible lie and a continuation of the mud that has been tried to be thrown in these 27 years against the liberation war in Kosovo.
"The biblical waves of humanity fleeing the slaughter have been wiped out, giving way to fictions that the KLA was supposedly a structured criminal group. That claim is a major alarm for every Albanian in every corner of the globe," said Balla.
Further, he mentioned the crimes against Albanians in Kosovo.
"I have a question for the prosecutors, there are 12 thousand Albanian sons and daughters whose lives were robbed in Kosovo. There are 20 thousand Albanian women and girls in Kosovo who were raped, there are 1,600 Albanians dead and unaccounted for, or as they say in this bureaucratic language of The Hague, they are missing. What can be done for these people and how will it be done?!", Balla said in the Assembly.
He emphasized that for none of the persons accused of crimes in Kosovo, there is a request for 45 years in prison, except for the former leaders of the KLA, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.
