The US Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, was received in a meeting by Prime Minister Edi Rama, in the latter's office.
Guilfoyle traveled from Athens to Tirana to participate in the signing of an agreement in the energy sector between the Ministry of Infrastructure and an American company.
Kimberly Guilfoyle met with Rama in March, where the diplomat's visit raised many doubts.
Another meeting with them took place in Greece as Rama participated in the Delphi Economic Forum.
According to Greek media, the US ambassador to Greece's visits to Tirana were related to a project related to liquefied gas.
A FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) is a floating terminal used to import and process liquefied natural gas (LNG). It is usually a ship equipped with large tanks where liquefied gas that arrives by tanker from production countries is stored. On this platform, the gas is stored at very low temperatures and then, through special equipment, is converted back from a liquid state to a gas.
After this process, the gas is sent through pipelines to the national or regional energy grid. Such terminals are considered faster and more flexible solutions than building permanent terminals on land and are often used to increase energy security and diversify gas supply sources.
