An unusual political situation has been noted in the Fier Municipal Council, where the votes of SP and DP councilors have been united for the election of the new head of the council.
With 41 councilors present in the hall, the Municipal Council voted for the new mayor, electing Melsi Bogdani to this position.
Earlier, the socialist group presented a motion of dismissal against the acting chairwoman, Antoneta Çunaj, demanding her resignation. The latter avoided the vote on dismissal, presenting an irrevocable resignation and paving the way for the election of a successor.
Çunaj stated that she will continue to contribute as an advisor in decision-making for the community.
After the meeting of the Mandates Commission to verify the request of the socialist councilors, the vote for the new head of the council took place. Melsi Bogdani was elected by a majority of votes, also receiving the support of the Democratic Party councilors. There was only one vote against in the vote, that of Antoneta Çunaj.
In his speech, Bogdani praised the work of his predecessor and stated that the Municipal Council will enter another level of functioning.
