The Vice President of the Democratic Party, Agron Gjekmarkaj, and the head of branch 9 in Tirana, Eda Grimçi, reacted after the incidents recorded during the opposition protest on the boulevard in front of the Prime Minister's Office.
In a statement to the media in front of Police Station No. 1, DP representatives condemned the acts that occurred during the protest, describing them as indicators of an escalation of the situation.
Gjekmarkaj accused the government of acting under pressure and panic, claiming it was trying to impose “normality” through force. He raised concerns about deliberate targeting of opposition representatives during the protests.
"DP MPs, Luciano Boçi, Klevis Balliu, are being deliberately hit. We are in a paradoxical situation, in the last protest, water cannons were fired at Berisha, several MPs were hit, this shows that the government is in the grip of panic," said DP deputy leader Agron Gjekmarkaj.
The statement comes at a time when opposition protests have been accompanied by tensions and clashes, while the parties continue to exchange accusations over responsibility for the incidents.
