Prime Minister Edi Rama has appointed Spiro Maliqi to head the Agency for Drafting Special Citizenship Programs.

Spiro Maliqi previously served as Prefect of Elbasan, and recently served as Advisor to the Minister of the Interior.

Previously, Jona Suli served in this Agency, who replaced Ilir Beqaj.

The Council of Ministers in 2020 decided to create the Agency for Drafting Special Citizenship Programs, which has the mission of preparing the technical criteria of special programs of national interest or of interest in the field of education, science, art, culture, economy and sports for the acquisition of Albanian citizenship by foreign citizens who invest in Albania or contribute to the educational, scientific, artistic-cultural, economic and sports development of the country and proposes it to the relevant authority for approval.
