"Rama used citizens for political purposes", Lapaj: He promised

The leader of the "Albania Becomes" movement, Adriatik Lapaj, has reacted sharply to the government's initiative to demolish unauthorized constructions.

Lapaj accuses the government of promoting illegality for electoral gains. He said that Rama has repeatedly postponed the deadline for legalizations before each election.

"We are categorically against illegal construction, but… Illegal construction should not be tolerated under any circumstances. No one should be allowed to build outside the legal framework. It is a fact that in Albania, obtaining a permit is almost an impossible mission. They wanted to push the citizen all the time into illegality so that they could then rob him of his pockets and hold him hostage for the vote.

"The current government, by repeatedly postponing the legalization deadline before each election, has given a clear message: Build now, give us your vote and we will legalize it.. That's what happened. So, it was the government itself that encouraged citizens to build illegally ," Lapaj wrote on social media.

According to Lapaj, the message the government has conveyed is clear: "Build now, give us the vote and we will legalize it."

Lapaj also said that this strategy not only undermines the legal order, but also treats citizens as tools for political purposes.

"How is it possible that in 2025, when the Republic has invested millions of dollars in satellites and drones for territorial control, mass illegal construction is allowed? Who allowed it? Where are the officials arrested for this?"  Lapaj said.
