A new global dynamic is quietly taking shape: the “Peace Board.” A new structure proposed by Donald Trump that is trying to attract international support, but so far, the number of leaders who have officially accepted it is quite limited.
According to the " Ansa " agency, out of 52 invited leaders, only 7 have confirmed their participation: Argentina, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Albania and Vietnam. Albania, through an immediate announcement by Prime Minister Edi Rama, was among the first to openly side with the White House initiative.
On the other hand, most of the invited countries, including those of the European Union, Japan, Canada and several Latin American countries, have put the issue under in-depth political, legal and institutional analysis. Many of them have stressed the need for consultation with international partners, especially the EU and the United Nations, before giving a final response.
The Peace Board, which was initially intended as a mechanism for managing the Gaza crisis, according to UN Security Council Resolution 2803, is now being designed as a much broader and permanent structure, with the aim of intervening in international conflicts in the name of peace, but outside the UN legal framework.
Critics of this project warn that it could turn into a parallel organism, dominated by the US and personally by Donald Trump, who through this initiative is seeking to build a new international order, where legitimacy does not derive from global consensus, but from alliances entirely controlled by Washington.
While the invitation is expected to be extended to more leaders, the stance of large and powerful countries such as Germany, France, Italy, Brazil or India will be decisive for the fate of this Board, which in form and function is attempting to establish itself as an alternative to the United Nations system.
