Prime Minister Edi Rama has described ambassadors as the weakest link in Albanian diplomacy.
The diplomatic service of the Republic of Albania should focus on the objective of the country's membership in the European Union and the main states of the union.
Not a single day should be wasted in the next 4 years, in the service of this historic goal.
This was the message that Prime Minister Edi Rama gave to Albania's ambassadors in various countries around the world, who gathered today in Tirana, as part of the Diplo2025 Ambassadors' Conference, "Albania 2030: in Europe, connected to the world".
"A key element that remains the weakest link in the work of the Diplomatic Service is economic diplomacy, where the role of our representations is weak and where, except for specific cases related to the nature and will of an ambassador, the contribution is non-existent.
A conference dedicated to diplomatic missions was held in the function of economic diplomacy, but the results left much to be desired. This aspect should be a priority for embassies. As for foreign policy, the government in Tirana has made their work easier.
Unlike before when European chancelleries were far away from our representations, today international chancelleries are just a phone call away from Tirana. Your work should be focused on increasing and deepening ties with the economic world, which is highly developed in Europe. By leveraging Albania's impact, we can do a lot together.
"We have taken relations with some of the main Gulf countries to a completely different level and we expect that diplomatic relations will also rise to that level and we can go even further. The result leaves much to be desired," said Rama.
