PL MP Erisa Xhixho has reacted harshly to the latest scandal regarding peppers exported from Albania to Slovenia, which were blocked by Slovenian authorities because they contained high levels of pesticides.
Xhixho emphasizes that food safety in Albania is at low levels and that Albanian products that are blocked, returned, or destroyed in the countries where they are exported are the clearest proof that Albanians do not know what they are putting on their children's tables.
"The European Albania that Rama promised Albanians not only cannot guarantee the safety of the food they consume daily, but is also becoming a danger to others," she writes on Facebook.
The MP also listed a number of food products that have been blocked within the year by neighboring countries, as they have resulted in numerous and dangerous problems for the health of consumers.
"Food safety in Albania is zero. Albanian products that are blocked, returned or destroyed in the countries where they are exported are the clearest proof that Albanians do not know what they put on their children's tables."
The European Albania that Rama promised Albanians not only cannot guarantee the safety of the food they consume daily, but is also becoming a danger to others.
The blocked peppers in Slovenia are just one indicator of the institutional irresponsibility that threatens the health of citizens every time they sit down at the table.
The AKU may once again come out with statements to "calm down" the Albanian consumer, telling them that "others have eaten them, don't worry," but the bitter truth is that such cases show its failure as an institution.
In less than a year:
* Croatia has rejected the export of Albanian peppers due to high levels of pesticides
* Contaminated tangerines that were not allowed to enter the EU ended up on the domestic market
* Strawberries were found with banned pesticides
* Fish with Anisakis parasite found in Albanian market
* Pork and chicken meat were found to be contaminated with salmonella
* Ice creams resulted in carcinogenic ethylene oxide
"* Croatia blocked Albanian peaches due to high nickel content," she wrote.
