The incinerators have been a "hot potato" for years after the opposition's constant accusations of theft, until the judiciary filed concrete charges and announced sentences against certain officials.
However, Prime Minister Edi Rama, invited to the Opinion show on TV Klan, considers the plan for the incinerator legitimate, while adding that the people accused in this case have reaped their benefits.
" The incinerator project is correct, the plan is legitimate and precisely why within the project process there were individuals who have extracted their benefits, is also the part that has to do with corruption. Nothing was paid to build the incinerator, we are talking about Tirana, the other 2 were not built with state money, they were built with private money. The state has periodically paid for years until now it has taken ownership of them ," the Prime Minister said.
Regarding the accused and convicted officials, Rama says that this is the fruit of the Justice Reform.
" This overcrowded prison is the result of media guillotines and the fact that all the media debate chambers deal with this work 95% of the time. Meanwhile, the truth is different. On the one hand, it is clear and not discussed because this was the goal, we have done the justice reform, so that justice can be done to strike left and right. I am talking about a guillotine atmosphere, about trials that are held in the media ," he said.
