Former Democratic Party MP, Ervin Salianji, has reacted after the publication of the latest report by the US Department of State on the investment climate in Albania.
According to the report provided by "Pamfleti", informal money, mainly from drug trafficking, has disrupted the balance in the market.
Salianji described the report as a clear reflection of the grim reality that citizens and businesses face every day in the country. He emphasizes that property is the sector most exposed to corruption, adding that when laws favor those close to power, others remain defenseless, threatened and extorted.
“The latest report by the US Department of State on the investment climate in Albania is a testament and reflection of the reality that citizens and businesses feel every day. The report directly reflects;
Widespread corruption and inefficient courts, where investors are advised not to trust our judicial system, but to seek international arbitration. This is the government's failure to guarantee the rule of law, the rule of law and legal certainty!
Insecure property rights, with overlapping titles, incomplete registrations, and a slow and unfair compensation process, often below real market value, the report highlights that property is a sector exposed to corruption.
Abuses in the treatment of investments, where laws favor those close to power, while others remain unprotected and often threatened by the state with expropriations or extortion.
"Lack of transparency and bureaucracy, which force investors to use intermediaries for elementary processes, increasing costs and the risk of abuse ," writes Salianji.
