The main challenge facing the opposition today is unity. This was stated by the deputy leader of the Democratic Party of Albania, Luciano Boçi, according to whom this unity was left half-baked after the May 11 elections, despite Sali Berisha's constant calls for unity, both within the Democratic Party and with other opposition parties.
"It was a union that did not end even on May 11. It was sought, it was stimulated. Mr. Berisha constantly came out and made offers for the Union and for the small opposition parties, but even within the Democratic Party itself it was not realized and was left half-hearted even after the May 11 elections. And I think that this is the main challenge of the opposition and the oppositions are aware of their role when they understand and prevail over all the petty things the fundamental and major goal which is the overthrow of a regime ," Boçi said on "Off the Record" on A2 CNN.
Boçi emphasizes that the regime will not leave by resigning, but by opposition action and the unity of all political forces from Shehaj to Lapaj, as well as by having the citizens on its side.
" A regime does not leave with resignation, it does not leave because there are legal issues. Everything must be transformed into political action, joint action with all opposition forces. Citizens are one step ahead of political parties. They proved it and clearly demand that the opposition be united. Citizens are there in the square. Of course, the majority of them are with the Democratic Party. It is not enough. We need other citizens and those 100 who are with Shehaj and those 20, 30 who are with Lapaj. And others who are perhaps skeptical today and see us from a distance. But we must concretize this message of unity that the citizens gave. Mr. Berisha has once again addressed the opposition forces to come together because in the end, what is important at this point is the goal. Not emotional differences or even differences of character as some interpret it of an ideological nature. Because today to overthrow a regime you do not need ideology. Today you need resistance and to have the citizens on your side ", he said Boci.
