Democratic Party MP Luan Baçi commented on the opposition's latest protest as a strong civic reaction that exceeded all expectations, despite the short time it was organized.

He emphasized to Syri TV that the importance of the protests does not lie only in the numbers, but in the expression of the free will of citizens and the political message they convey.

According to Baçi, the protest marks the opening of the second phase of the opposition action, after a long period of denunciations and facts presented to internationals regarding the May 11 elections, which, according to the OSCE-ODIHR report, were not free and fair.

Luan Baçi: Despite the fact that it was indeed a very powerful protest, with very significant numbers, I would call it, beyond expectations, I would even call it, because it was a protest announced within four or five days, as a national protest. But I have often said and I repeat that the important thing is to protest. The complex of numbers should not be part of us at all. Protests are protests and they express the will of free citizens. However, yesterday's protest was a protest that, if you notice, even those media outlets that are friendly to us and are constantly tracking to provide footage of the protests an hour before the protest starts or two hours after the protest ends, this time they were, they were speechless, they had nothing to say that...

They were disappointed by a protest that they did not expect, and they had created the idea that the Democratic Party would have as many protesters as there were every Monday at the podium, which we had created as a window for the deputies who did not have a say in parliament, which Niko Peleshi denied them, and for the free citizens who wanted to come and speak. Last night they got the deserved answer, they and everyone else, except for those few government media outlets, but also many independent analysts in quotes in quotes, who nightly with government money try to do analysis to say that the Democratic Party has shrunk, has shrunk and no longer has the right numbers even for protest. Last night we got the right answer.

The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Mr. Berisha, did not just say it last night, he has said it often in every television appearance. It is not that we have stopped protesting, but the time after May 11 and until a month ago with the release of the OSCE-ODIHR report, the Democratic Party has been focused on denunciations and the preparation of material with facts, evidence and documents, to raise awareness and to make internationals transparent about the looting and theft of the May 11 elections. And I believe, and this is a fact, we achieved an unprecedented success, where in the OSCE-ODIHR report, thanks to the commitment of the Democratic Party with evidence, facts and arguments, it was written in black and white that the elections were not free and fair, the border between the state and the party has disappeared, thousands of meetings have been held outside the legal deadlines, numerous decisions have been made by the government with a great impact on the elections.

Seen from this perspective, the Democratic Party yesterday, precisely yesterday, opened as the leader of a second phase of becoming the opposition, of taking to the streets, of powerful protests. We no longer have anything to wait for, we have passed the first phase, we have informed the international community, the national opinion, with facts, with evidence, that the May 11 elections were a farce. So we had no choice. Now the citizens must and will take to the streets as they did last night, to force, to force this government to accept to hold free and fair elections. Last night's protest and any other protest that will be, are not protests that take to the streets and the government is overthrown that day and we create the government.
