The deputy of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku, was invited this Saturday to the Review show on Euronews Albania, where she commented on the anti-corruption resolution proposed by the SP that will pass on Monday in the parliament. Tabaku said in her speech that any initiative that fights corruption is welcome, but added that the majority, which has turned corruption into an endemic culture, does not have the right creed to do it.
" Is it necessary for us to focus on the fight against corruption, in addition to the work done by the justice institutions, which is penal work, that is, dealing with the punishment of corruption? Do we need to deal with the prevention of corruption, to set up a system that today has developed with an endemic culture? The answer is of course yes!
I do not believe that the fight against corruption has the moral height and creed to be developed by the majority. If we are in a system where corruption has been perfected, it is a consequence of the culture that develops today in the entire public administration ", said Tabaku.
Tabaku said that the fight against corruption is a request made by the EU for the integration process. She emphasized that it is better for the Democratic Party to be part of the process than not. Tabaku asked for more information about the resolution and especially the Ad-hoc committee that will be created.
" Today we need a complete analysis of the situation and only after finishing the analysis we can talk about how it will develop. There have been endless initiatives to fight corruption. In 2009, I started as Deputy Minister of Integration and the main criterion was the fight against corruption, and this is the same obligation we have after 15 years. Today we need to go beyond resolutions and pieces of paper," she said.
Tabaku added that DP cannot support the resolution without having information about what will happen next.
